#50Days50Ways - #10 - Delivering the Firth Park Sports Precinct

The Firth Park Sports Precinct has been a hub for many locals, particularly on the weekend, for two decades. There are just under 4000 members at Hinterland District Netball Association, just under 200 at Mudgeeraba Baseball Club, 600+ at Mudgeeraba Redbacks, and several hundred members and visitors at Mudgeeraba Lawn Bowls Club. Local clubs like Bonogin Valley Bulls Cricket Club and Robina Mudgeeraba Roos Junior AFL are flourishing and need more space to play.

That is why this project is so important. We've allocated several hundreds of thousands of dollars to masterplan, originated by my office's Division 9 Local Area Works budget. You told me this place was important to you and so I've acted.

We've already allocated $5m to start the first stage for netball, turning out 17 courts into 24 courts, improving carparking and lighting and small stands. this is essential and I was stoked to secure it.

But there's more to come. AFL/Cricket, another baseball diamond, open space to kick a footy without restrictions, an expanded skate area to accommodate roller skating, better lighting and parking... and a High Performance Training Centre perhaps (which was an unexpected by welcome addition from Mayor Tom Tate, the investigation for which was funded by his office)
