#50Days50Ways - #15 - Upgrading Hinterland Regional Park with a $1m+ improvement plan.

Hinterland Regional Park, often known as Hardy’s Park, is a much loved park in our local area and one of the only “whole of city” parks in Division 9, supported for larger visitor capacity and investment renewal in our capital budget.

For some time we’ve been chatting with residents about a BIG park upgrade and after some deliberation and discussion with community groups and local residents Hardy’s Park was selected as the park most suitable for a legacy investment. We worked with the team from Parks and Recreation over the past year, based on the feedback we received and have put proposed plan out for consultation.

As a result of this consultation, I’ve nominally allocated $1.2m over multiple years (including $450,000 in 23/24 and 24/25 combined) to commence first stages of the upgrade.

The upgrade will encompass 4 stages of park upgrade, plus an improved shelter option inside the dog park and long term project to connect the park by path to Somerset Drive. Elements of the new playground include a tower, flying fox and rope hill climb, focussing on climbing play and a theme that has regard for the natural bushland surrounding the park.

Our consultation was extensive and involved a number of community events and several months of online surveys, promoted through our newsletter and email communications.

This is a legacy opportunity I am so excited about and am committed to delivering if you #Vote1Tozer in March 2024. Come on this journey with us and always feel free to add your feedback to the hundreds of snippets we’ve received so far.!
