#50Days50Ways - #40 - Planting street trees across the division

Each year, our office works with the lovely team from City Greening and the Council Nursery to plant trees in local Division 9 streets.

The process works like this. We receive requests throughout a year, collate all these, and then strategize to deliver a program efficiently that includes nearby streets where requests have been received.

We then write to all residents, ask if anyone wants to opt out, and then deliver the program. We always try to do it in a season where there is the highest likelihood of the trees not dying. We follow up with some watering and maintenance over the following months.

Over the past years, the following programs have been completed;

21/22 - 252 street trees across 20 streets and adjacent parks including Gilston, Mudgeeraba, Reedy Creek and Worongary

22/23 - 251 street trees across 11 streets and park events.

23/24 - We already given away 150 street trees at our local events and are collating our list for requests.

Please let us know if you'd like trees in your street for this year's program. An example tree we regularly use "Waterhousia Floribunda" is pictured below.
