#50Days50Ways - #41 - Traffic Calming on Wallandra Rd

For some time now, engineers have been working on improvements to Wallandra Drive, in response to requests for traffic calming and council-delivered impediments to reduce speeds of cars driving in the area. This project was also informed by the nearby speed monitoring data collected (the smiley face cameras) that showed some impediments in the road reserve might help responsible drivers make better decisions in and near Ingles Park.

Council officers/contractors have been doing some prep work over past days, but the main project commences on 12 February.

There'll be a "wombat crossing" at 147 Wallandra Rd, which is a raised pedestrian crossing.

There'll also be a speed hump at 138 Wallandra Rd and there'll also be pedestrian crossing impediments on the verge at 126 and 178.

Energex has been scheduled to complete lighting upgrades around the commencement date which are essential for the project to proceed, and once Energex do their work we can start the other elements.

It's another example of community informed feedback resulting in a good outcome for our local roads, making them safer. Thanks to local residents for their patience while we navigated all the processes.
