#50Days50Ways - #42 - Provided over $100,000 over the last term to Bushcare and Landcare groups and programming
The Bushcare and Landcare groups in our local area represent not just an important resource for environmental work and activity, but also are an important social outlet for our community members who love getting their hands dirty, planting trees, weeding and restoring riparian zones.
In our community we have Bonogin Valley Bushcare, Springbrook Landcare, Austinville Landcare, Hinterland Regional Park Bushcare and Numinbah Landcare. All these groups include selfless volunteers who not only participate in regular activities but also champion other programs such as Clean Up Australia Day, Platypus Watch (run by Watergum), the Great Cane Toad Bust, the annual BioBlitz and the Glossy Black Cockatoo Conservancy audits, as well as several others.
My local office has been proud to support these programs, directly and through the NaturallyGC program at council, supplementing whole of city budgets to the tune of over $100,000 over the past term of Council.
